Session 1: Iraq Telecoms and IT: An update on a 'relatively' good story from Iraq

The telecommunications infrastructure in Iraq was destroyed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and before. One of the positive stories in Iraq is the rebuilding and development of the core network and services in the country. Before the war approximately one million people had access to basic telephony.  Today 8 million Iraqis has access to a variety of modern communications services. Bob Fonow, the US State Department's advisor to H.E. Mohammed Allawi,  Minister of Communications, Iraq will explain what has been done so far and describe future opportunities for expansion and development.

Session 2: Beyond Distance Learning… Distance Learning Enrichment in Every Classroom

Distance learning courses are becoming standard in both long distance and local usage.  However, the broadening of distance learning to
every classroom by every teacher has not become a reality.  The concept of Distance Learning - Enrichment is seen as the goal of all educators being able to enrich their classrooms through various synchronous and asynchronous programming activities.

This session is designed as a chance for on-site and remote participants linked by DL e-technologies to discuss issues related to making the classroom technology integration process more effective and universal.
