story from Iraq
The telecommunications infrastructure in Iraq was destroyed in Operation Iraqi Freedom and before. One of the positive stories in Iraq is the rebuilding and development of the core network and services in the country. Before the war approximately one million people had access to basic telephony. Today 8 million Iraqis has access to a variety of modern communications services. Bob Fonow, the US State Department's advisor to H.E. Mohammed Allawi, Minister of Communications, Iraq will explain what has been done so far and describe future opportunities for expansion and development.
