MARK A. WINTHER is responsible for strategic direction and planning, project management and profitability for the IDC global telecommunications practice. As well as operations in US, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

Winther is a founding producer of two IDC annual conferences; IDC’s European Telecom Forum, which targets visions of the fixed and mobile broadband future and IDC’s Web Talk Forum, where emerging opportunities in IP voice applications, business models and technologies are addressed.

Recognized as an expert in telecommunications competition, IP convergence, softswitch services and infrastructures, enterprise IP networking, broadband markets, and wireless transformation, Winther is a frequent speaker at many international industry events and has contributed articles to the Encyclopedia of Telecommunications, NetworkWorld, and Computerworld.

Winther has a BA from Swarthmore College and attended the Masters Program at the Annenberg School of Communications at the University of Pennsylvania.
